The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), is one of the most impactful welfare initiatives by the Government of Pakistan. It aims to provide quarterly financial aid of Rs. 13,500 to low-income & poor families across the country. Beneficiaries can apply through nearby registration offices, via SMS, or check their application/payment status using the 8171 web portal.
Who is Eligible for BISP?
To qualify for the BISP program, applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
- Must belong to a financially vulnerable household, verified through the NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) survey.
- Should not own commercial property, agricultural land, or any registered business.
- Government workers and pension recipients are not allowed to apply.
- Special consideration is given to widows, female-headed households, and women in need.
- Have a valid CNIC
- Payments are issued directly to female beneficiaries through banks or designated payout centers.
How to Apply?
There are three ways to register for the program:
1. In-Person Registration at BISP Office (NSER Survey Method)
- Visit the nearest BISP Tehsil office.
- Share your CNIC number and information about your household.
- Complete the NSER survey, which evaluates your income level.
- After review, you will receive an SMS from 8171 about your eligibility status.
2. Apply by SMS (Fast Track Method)
- Send your CNIC number through SMS to 8171.
- You’ll get a response indicating whether you’re eligible or not.
- If you qualify, you’ll be given instructions for payment collection.
3. Check Status Online via 8171 Portal (Latest 2025 Method)
- Go to the official www.bisp.gov.pk.
- Enter your CNIC number.
- Complete the captcha code to proceed.
- Click on Submit.
- Your eligibility status and payment details will appear on the screen.
Ways to Receive Your BISP Payments
Once you’re approved, you can access your funds through any of these channels:
- Partner bank branches authorized by BISP.
- Through mobile wallet services like JazzCash and EasyPaisa.
- From designated BISP cash distribution centers.
Important: You must complete biometric verification (thumb scan) to receive your funds. In case your biometric verification is unsuccessful, please contact the nearest BISP support center.
